Unit Manager for the Parks Department

About us

The Parks Department is responsible for the maintenance, development, and long-term management of the municipality's green environments. This includes daily operations and seasonal maintenance of parks, plantings, natural areas, and pathways, which include lawn mowing, weed removal, planting work, watering, brush clearing, and maintenance of gravel and natural paths. Here, you will work closely with the operations and lead a team that makes a tangible difference in citizens' everyday lives.

About the position

As a unit manager, you have overall responsibility for leading, developing, and following up on the Parks Department's operations. You will be responsible for a team of approximately 13 employees, including a supervisor for natural operations, who work practically with the maintenance and operation of the municipality's green areas.

You have overall responsibility for:

  • Planning, operation, and maintenance of the municipality's roads, pedestrian and bicycle paths, playgrounds, and road signs.
  • Budget work, where you are responsible for the unit's operational budget and ensure an economically sustainable operation.
  • Personnel and work environment responsibility, including planning, follow-up, and development of employees.
  • Operational development, where you and your employees work systematically to ensure quality, service, and sustainability.
  • High presence in operations, where you lead closely, follow up on work on-site, and ensure that tasks are performed safely and efficiently.
  • Acting quickly when needs arise and handling matters that require prioritization and clear decisions.

In this role, you collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to create safe and well-functioning environments for the municipality's residents and visitors.

Are you the one we are looking for:

We are looking for someone who is confident both as a person and in your professional role. You serve as a stable point in the team and have the ability to create trust through your communication, leadership, and collaboration style.

We see that you have:

  • At least 3 years of documented experience as a manager with personnel, financial, and budget responsibilities.
  • Experience in parks, land maintenance, operations, technical activities, or similar fields is advantageous but not required. We would like you to have a good understanding of operations and practical work in park or green space maintenance.
  • Driving license B.
  • Good knowledge of Swedish in speech and writing.
